Great point! But everything with capitalism is about short-term profit, there's no long-range planning or real vision of the future at all. This is part of the reason why resource depletion and wars breaking out over the basics like water are inevitable, while the planet's ecosystems simultaneously collapse. And as soon as the "leadership" feels like it, they'll abandon ship, leaving everyone else to sink or swim - whether their companies or their rackets are profitable or not.
The problems we have now are systemic and at this stage the rot and corruption has gone too deep - the only way to foment real change is to uproot the entire paradigm and start afresh.
80 is a ridiculous age to still be in charge of anything really as well. Cognitive and physical decline are in full swing at that point and positions of power cause too much pressure for an elderly person to manage
