Hi David, I admire your take on this quandry. You acknowledge the gravity of the situation, while also somehow managing to illuminate the glimmers of hope and joy that exist even in the darkest moments. That's not an easy thing to achieve!
I think your attitude is the right one to take in order to stay sane. There is still so much beauty and vibrance in the world....often in places unphased and relatively unmolested by the collapse of the West.
Also, you make a great point about the end sharpening our vision and our values. When confronted with the chaotic demise of civilisation, it really makes you realize that the things you cherish have been right in front of you all along - family, friends, music and art.
