I agree 100%. Trump is not the disease; he's a symptom of the rot that has been swelling in the heart of American capitalism for decades now and, yes, if nothing else, he has served to wake a lot of people up to how unbelievably corrupt the system has become.
Most individuals understand that there's nothing to save here, but I think the vast majority fear that giving up on capitalism will result in a Stalinist type paradigm taking over; with food stamps, lack of private property and forced labour etc. ...
This is Cold War era line of thinking. We need to open people's eyes to the fact that we have long moved on from that and that letting go of this system doesn't mean life will automatically become miserable. It could indeed be a lot better for the vast majority. We won't know until we try, but either way this structure is crumbling. I think it's time we all embrace that fact.
