I believe you'll find that most workers in this late stage capitalist nightmare are angry and indignant on a daily basis and righteously so. Getting paid peanuts by companies that count their profits in the trillions, whose CEOs pay themselves billions, is an outrage against humanity and anyone who does not feel exploited under this system is deluding themselves.

When being unemployed can literally be a life or death matter for some people, I think we absolutely have a right to be disgusted with these shady and deceptive practices adopted by the employer class.

Let me now tackle the points you made.

1. We don't control the process; they do. If they can't effectively sort through the CVs they receive then it's up to them to change how they operate, but again most of these companies are advertising merely for appearances sake with no real job on offer. A simple tactic would be to have candidates drop their CVs in personally instead, that would eliminate many out of the 100s or 1000s of applications they receive.

2. Layoffs are no longer a sign of failure. You can be an outstanding employee and the company can be making unprecedented profits, but they will still downsize their labour force merely to increase the profit margin for their shareholders. This happens all the time now in tech, and they rarely give much notice at all.

3. Long hiring processes have been proven costly and ineffective on both sides. Studies have shown that pointlessly long hiring processes deter the best candidates and that not much further is learned by the company after the 2nd interview.

The only rational explanation for these ridiculous processes is to grind the candidate down so that they'll accept the lousy salary on offer, or to give the appearance of hiring when they're actually not.

And lastly, I don't know what planet you've been on, but on Earth wealth inequality has skyrocketed out of control and there very much is an US v THEM reality that they have created by refusing to pay livable wages while paying themselves billions.
