I totally agree with you - neck deep in an extremely dilapidated labour market where people seem to have no union representation, no rights and little more the starvation wages. They are disenfranchised from the fruits of the economy, however, and mainly remain unseen or unrecognized by society - which is what I meant.
Once exploited and used up to the point of mental and physical exhaustion, they then become disposable and are simply tossed aside.
The rationale to take one's power back and step outside of the system before you're tossed out therefore becomes highly logical.
