I've always believed the modern monarchy to be extremely vulnerable.

Perhaps coming from the Rep. of Ireland has shaped my perception on the matter, but it just seems to me to be a plain, undeniable fact that ancient aristocratic families living on the taxpayer's dime have no legitimate basis in the twenty-first century.

The English have been attached to the nostalgia of empire and greatness that the Royals evoke, but the cost of maintaining this fairytale is becoming increasingly unsupportable - especially at a time when the country is totally struggling economically.

At the moment, things have gotten so bad that the public healthcare system, the NHS, is on the verge of collapsing. I can imagine a scenario where the British electorate is given a choice between keeping their healthcare, or keeping King Charles sitting pretty on a symbolic throne - what do you think they would choose?

In my view, it's really only a matter of time before the entire charade is done away with, but the insanity of Harry's meddling has definitely expedited that process!
