I've lived in Holland and had a Dutch partner before too, so I'm very familiar with the country and its many issues. It's a tiny part of Europe, yet is still rife with inequality, corruption and human trafficking. The standard of living is ok for the average person, yet employment opportunities are limited and wages have been stagnant for decades. In spite of the many protests that the population enact to voice their outrage at neoliberal capitalism and its destructive tendencies, their voices go unnoticed and unacknowledged by their elite. I know, because I have attended several of these protests myself.
So what is so OBVIOUSLY better about the Netherlands? Like many other European nations, it's basically America's ugly little cousin in terms of economic oppression.
