I've never trusted the agencies. They're all out to make an easy buck and they give zero shits about their clients' real needs or interests. If the system functioned as it should, their business would be rendered completely redundant. The more dysfunctional and mindboggling the recruitment process is, the more recruitment companies thrive, so they have a vested interest of maintaining this hiring shitshow. I agree that they are lazy and incompetent too; they're corrupt little middlemen who have no place in a civilized society. They do little to nothing on the part of their clients and, from what I've experienced, they're usually sloppy as well. They don't deserve the extortionate rates they charge.

As Graeber once explained in his book Bullshit Jobs recruitment agencies are perfect examples of "fixers", middlemen purely there to fix one of the many issues inherent in capitalism.

There are so many infuriating things about this economy now tbh...the hiring process is just one of them. Think I'm starting to lose my mind with it all and I know I can't be the only one. God help us.
