NATO should have been disbanded at the collapse of the Soviet Union and Russia embraced as an ally by EU member states. It was at America's behest that instead of being dissolved, NATO expanded, beginning to recruit former Soviet countries and play war games on Russia's border.

Not only did the US place all the chess pieces on the board to instigate this crisis, but now they are splitting the world in two by forcing nations to declare their position.

Obviously Russia is culpable for starting the war, but the US played an undeniable role in provoking the whole affair, due to the fear of a powerful European block being established that they could not control.

Even placing all that aside, yes this is a regional dispute. The US should not be involved.
