Spot on - the neoliberalist condemnation of the government as weak and ineffective has served to bolster the plutocrat's desire for deregulation and essentially allow them to plunder and pillage up until the point where they're forced to come hat in hand looking for bailouts every time they've gone too far. It's socialism for them and capitalism for everybody else.

It's imperative to stick the mantra of keeping government "small" so that it basically cannot function in the way it should to protect the people from oligarchs.

I truly believe this form of totalitarianism is far worse than anything that has come before, because it's far more powerful and ubiquitous.
