I believe there is hope for those who become the necessary book-hoarders of the future. They will become the protectors of human wisdom and knowledge, and will keep the classical literary traditions alive.
It may also become a new trend to cut oneself off from social tech to revert back to the old-fangled leisure pursuits that involve spending time outside and/or using one's imagination.
If so, readership may actually increase as time goes on and people are more aware of the issues of new tech and how it is effecting their lives.
